Core Features

  • Precision-focused platforming built around a single jump mechanic
  • Momentum-based movement using a rolling sphere
  • Level design that teaches through spacing, height, and layout
  • Fast retry loop with immediate resets on failure
  • Gradual difficulty increase through spatial complexity, not new mechanics
  • Minimalist greybox visuals emphasizing clarity and readability

How to Play

  • Use movement controls (WASD) to roll the marble across platforms
  • Time jumps (space) carefully to clear gaps and elevation changes
  • Maintain momentum to reach longer distances
  • Reach the goal platform to complete the level
  • Falling resets you to the start of the level

Design Notes

This prototype was developed as a 48 hour platformer assignment focused on how spatial design can teach mechanics without explicit instruction. The experience centers on a single jump ability, exploring how momentum, slope, and platforms and spacing create expressive movement.

A key goal was maintaining clarity through minimalism, using simple geometry and color contrast to guide player understanding. Difficulty is introduced through level layout rather than added systems, reinforcing learning through repetition and iteration.

Technical constraints, particularly camera setup in Godot, influenced the level structure toward a more linear flow. Despite this, the design maintains a focus on readable movement, fast retries, and incremental challenge.
